Are you a U.S. citizen who needs to renew your U.S. passport, obtain a Consular Report of Birth Abroad for a newborn, or have a document notarized? Representatives of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Kaohsiung Branch Office will visit Chiayi City on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 to provide those consular services and answer questions.

Services will be offered from 1pm to 3pm at the second-floor lobby of the Eastern District Household Building of the Executive Yuan’s Southwest Taiwan Joint Services Center, located at No. 184 Wufeng North Road, Chiayi City.

Please check our website at http://kaohsiung.ait.org.tw/us-passports.html for more information on required application forms, the specific U.S. passport photo 2" x 2" square size requirement, and current fees.

Please note that starting November 1, 2016, eyeglasses or cosmetic contact lenses that make the iris appear larger or smaller are not acceptable in passport photos. Please bring both the original and a clear photocopy of your U.S. passport or other photo ID.

Note that passport applications for minor children under the age of 16 require signatures and a personal appearance by both parents and the child. Please review our website at http://kaohsiung.ait.org.tw/children-under-sixteen.html.

In order for us to mail back your new passport or other documents, please prepare a self-addressed envelope with 50 New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) in postage. We will be able to accept payment in U.S. Dollars (USD) or New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). Please bring exact change for your requested service. We can also accept local bank drafts (cashier’s checks 美金匯票) payable to the "American Institute in Taiwan." We cannot accept personal checks or credit cards.
