U.S. Department of Commerce Official to Lead U.S. Industry Leaders on Cyber Security Business Development Mission to the Asia-Pacific

WASHINGTON – U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry & Analysis Marcus Jadotte will lead 14 U.S. cybersecurity companies on a three-market business development mission to the Asia-Pacific region, May 16-24. During stops in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Taiwan, the delegation will meet with government and local business leaders to facilitate new partnerships across a range of cyber security-related products and services. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry & Analysis Marcus Jadotte will be in Taiwan from May 22-24.
During the trade mission, Assistant Secretary Jadotte will outline U.S. cybersecurity priorities as well as the Cybersecurity Framework developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The U.S. government has been working with other governments in multilateral fora to address challenges facing the digital economy, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Cross Border Privacy Rules, the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, and the Trade in Services Agreement.
There is a strong need for improvements in information and communications technology infrastructure security and training in markets across the world, including in East Asia. The U.S. cybersecurity firms participating on this mission are innovative industry leaders that have advanced tools and technologies that can help governments and the private sector defend against cyber threats.
This business development mission will give the private sector the opportunity to discuss its needs as well as share U.S.-based technology solutions to increase trade and investment in Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Taiwan. The delegation comprises representatives from:
