Secretary's Office of Global Women's Issues Senior Advisor Stephenie Foster to Visit Taiwan March 9-12
PR-1613E | Date: 03/09/2016
Stephenie Foster, Senior Advisor in the U.S. Secretary of State’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, is scheduled to visit Taiwan from March 9 to 12, 2016.
During her visit, Senior Advisor Foster will deliver remarks at the March 11 workshop entitled “Enhancing Prosperity and Opportunity for Women in the Asia-Pacific Region” in Taipei. The workshop is an initiative under the U.S.-Taiwan Global Cooperation and Training Framework, through which the United States and Taiwan jointly engage regional partners on a broad range of transnational issues. It will be hosted by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan Department of Gender Equality and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with Taiwan’s Foundation for Women’s Rights Promotion and Development; the U.S.-based Women’s Campaign International; the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, Taiwan; and the National Council of Women of Taiwan.
Senior Advisor Foster will also meet with Taiwan officials and representatives from civil society and the private sector to discuss areas for strengthened cooperation to promote gender equality and empower women in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Senior Advisor Foster previously served at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she focused on women and civil society. Prior to joining the State Department, she had her own consulting firm, with an emphasis on domestic and international policy advocacy, government affairs, program development and training, and law. In both the United States and abroad, she has worked extensively on programs to increase core civic engagement and advocacy skills, particularly of women, strategic planning, corporate and democratic governance, and project planning and management. Foster has worked in private law practice, as a Chief of Staff on Capitol Hill, and in senior management positions in the non-profit sector. She has published extensively on women and politics.
