PR-1432E | Date: 08/06/2014

The American Institute in Taiwan is pleased to announce that the AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office will relocate to the new China Steel Building on August 8, 2014. AIT Director Christopher Marut will preside over the opening ceremony with other guests including a Kaohsiung city representative, China Steel Corporation Chairman J.C. Tsou, AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office Chief Robert Dewitt, Deputy Branch Chief Jason Chue, and Commercial Section Chief Gregory Harris.

The new office address will be 5F, No. 88, Chenggong 2nd Road, Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung City. The new telephone number will be (07) 335-5006. The closest Kaohsiung MRT station is Shihjia Station.

In preparation for the move, our normal consular services will close on August 6 and resume at the new office starting on August 15. Please check the AIT Kaohsiung website at http://kaohsiung.ait.org.tw for the latest information or to make an appointment for services.

In 1979, the Kaohsiung Branch Office of AIT (AIT/K) was established to promote U.S. commercial, cultural and people-to-people ties with the residents of southern Taiwan. The AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office has been in its current location at Chung Cheng 3rd Road since 1986 and since then its staff has doubled in size. In order to meet our expanded requirements and ensure that we are positioned to maintain vibrant ties throughout southern Taiwan, AIT Kaohsiung will move into the China Steel Building, an architectural showpiece that has already become a prominent part of Kaohsiung’s skyline.

AIT/K’s major relocation project demonstrates the continuing deep commitment of the United States to southern Taiwan. AIT/K looks forward to continuing its productive relationship with the city of Kaohsiung, and the other municipalities in its district, which include Chiayi City and County, Tainan City, Pingtung County, Taitung County, and Penghu County.

All media representatives are invited to attend the opening ceremony scheduled for:

• Date: Friday, August 8, 2014

• Time: 3:00 p.m.

• Location: Multipurpose Conference Room at the American Institute in Taiwan Kaohsiung Branch Office (No. 88, Chenggong 2nd Road, Cianjhen District, Kaohsiung City)
