Acclaimed Chef Bryce Gilmore to Promote Culinary Diplomacy in Taiwan from June 27 - July 6, 2014

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is pleased to announce that acclaimed American chef Bryce Gilmore will visit Taiwan from June 27 to July 6, 2014 for a program to exchange culinary experience with people in Taiwan.

During his visit, the award-winning chef will share his cooking skills and explore culinary culture in Taiwan. Chef Gilmore will join local NGOs for a culinary exchange with underprivileged children, present his unique cuisine in a cooking demonstration for students, and prepare dishes for AIT’s Fourth of July events and receptions.

A native of Austin, Texas, Bryce Gilmore was born into a culinary family and got his first taste of the industry working in the kitchen of his father’s restaurant. Gilmore enrolled in the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, and refined his cooking skills by working in Austin and San Francisco. He is chef and owner of two Austin restaurants – Barley Swine and Odd Duck. He was recognized as a Food & Wine “Best New Chef 2010” and StarChefs.com 2012 Rising Star Chef.

The chef’s program is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Culinary Partnership launched in 2012 to promote culinary engagement in the world.
