AIT Promotes Sustainable Building Materials at the Taipei Building, Construction and Decoration Show

PR-1360E | Date: 12/11/2013

The American Institute in Taiwan's Agricultural Trade Office will organize the USA Pavilion at the 25th Taipei Building, Construction and Decoration Show.  The USA pavilion this year features green and eco-friendly wood products, the result of the U.S. building and construction industry's research and development for more than a century.

Although wood is not a new material, innovative technology in recent decades has advanced applications and building techniques of wood to a higher level.  Moreover, wood is renewable and energy-efficient, meeting the standards of a "green building," which has resulted in a new trend of wood frame construction.  While mineral resources are limited, wood is renewable and sustainable, with proper management.

The products showcased at the USA Pavilion include oriented strand board (OSB), laminated veneer lumber (LVL), glue-laminated lumber (glulam), plywood, softwood lumber, hardwood lumber and several other wood products and their applications.

AIT Director Christopher Marut will deliver remarks at the opening ceremony of the event at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 12.

For more information of the U.S. exhibitors and the wood products, please contact Cleo Fu at 2705-6536 ext. 242 or atotaipei@fas.usda.gov.
