AIT Celebrates 2013 International Education Week - November 12-15

The American Institute in Taiwan will celebrate the 13th Annual International Education Week which is an annual joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education from November 12-15, 2013. This annual event recognizes the value of international educational exchange in developing mutual understanding and respect around the world by encouraging future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States. It is also an opportunity to encourage students to become globally competent and successful through international engagement.
In collaboration with the EducationUSA Advising Center located at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan Office), AIT will host a series of programs to promote the benefits of international education.
AIT's International Education Week activities include:
International Students Day - Celebrate International Students Day with EducationUSA on November 13, 2013. Participants from around the world will be able to access virtually over 100 U.S. accredited institutions of higher education learning, including community colleges and four year institutions. The fair will run from Taiwan time 5:00 pm, November 13 to 7:00 am, November 14 (5:00 am-7:00 pm EST). For registration, please visit http://www.collegeweeklive.com/
EducationUSA Video Launch - The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (FSE) worked together to film a video which illustrates the “5 Steps to U.S. Study” for Taiwan students who wish to study in the United States. The 5 steps are “Research Your Options”, “Complete Your Application”, “Finance Your Studies”, “Apply for Your Student Visa” and “Prepare for Your Departure”. The video will be launched on AIT’s Facebook page on November 12.
GLOBE Program Launch - AIT and local partners will officially launch the GLOBE Program in Taiwan. GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) is a hands-on international science education program that brings together students, teachers, scientists and community members in over 110 countries to develop environmental awareness, understanding of other cultures, and a sense of global community. The program launch event will be held at the Affiliated High School of the National Taiwan Normal University on November 12.
Sports Education - Dr. Tseng Yu-Hsien from the Athletic Department of the National Taiwan University will give a talk on women in sports and share her experiences on participating in the prestigious Global Sports Mentoring Program at the Taipei American Corner on November 13. Dr. Tseng joined The U.S. Department of State’s espnW Global Sports Mentoring Program which pairs emerging women leaders from around the world with top American female executives in the sports industry. Information Session - FSE will hold a weekly in-house study in the U.S. session at the EducationUSA Advising Center. On November 14, a professor from Southern Nazarene University will give a talk on “Choosing a university and a program that is right for you.” To register, please visit http://www.educationusa.tw/.
Study Abroad Fair - AIT and FSE will participate in National Taiwan University’s Annual Study Abroad Fair on November 15. NTU’s Study Abroad Fair is the largest local university fair in Taiwan. We welcome students and parents to the EducationUSA booth to receive for more information about studying in the United States.
Taiwan is listed among the top 10 sources of students to the United States and education is an important link between the United States and Taiwan. AIT works closely and collaboratively with the U.S. State Department-affiliated EducationUSA center in Taiwan located at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (www.educationusa.tw). This center offers accurate, comprehensive and current information about educational opportunities in the United States, and provides guidance on how to access those opportunities.
