The American institute in Taiwan will celebrate the 13^th annual International Education Week which is an annual joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education from November 12-16, 2012.  This annual event recognizes the value of international educational exchange in developing mutual understanding and respect around the world by encouraging future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.  It is also an opportunity to encourage our students to become globally competent and globally successful through international engagement.

In collaboration with the EducationUSA Advising Center located at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan Office), AIT will host a number of programs to promote the benefits of international education.

AIT's International Education Week activities include:

• The world's largest Education USA Virtual College Fair will be held on November 13, 2012 in coordination with ECA and in support of International Education Week.  Participants from around the world will be able to access virtually 150 U.S. accredited institutions of higher learning, including community colleges and four year institutions.  The Fair will run from Taiwan time 13:00 p.m., November 13 to 12:59 p.m., November 14 (12:00am-11:59 pm EST / 5:00am- 4:59pm GMT).  For registration, please check out http://www.collegeweeklive.com/
• An AIT officer will deliver a student-centered talk on "the Myths of U.S. Higher Education" at a local high school.  The officer will share his perspective of the U.S. Higher Education and encourage students to consider more options when choosing a U.S. university.   

• A principal-centered talk on "Education for the Future and International Perspective" hosted by the Department of Education of Hsin Chu County Government.  Ryan Roberts, Director of American Cultural Center will speak to 160 school principals about how education impacts his career as a foreign service officer and the importance of obtaining the international perspective which values diversity, and promotes innovation and humanity. 
• AIT has arranged a series of Visa Waiver educational outreach programs to local high schools and universities to explain the process of obtaining a student visa.  A special program on "An Introduction the Visa Waiver Program, F1 Student Visa Application and EducationUSA Taiwan" will take place at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange on Thursday, November 15, 6:00-7:00 p.m. (3F, 45 Yanping S. Road, Taipei 10043). 
• A public museum education program at the National Palace Museum.  Dr. Charles Little, a well-known scholar from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a Fulbright Senior Specialist, will give a talk on "Art Museum Education - a Curatorial Perspective" on Thursday, November 15, 2:30-4:00 p.m. at the National Palace Museum. • Taiwan is among the world's leading sources of students to the United States and education is an important link between the United States and Taiwan.  AIT works closely and collaboratively with the U.S. State Department-affiliated EducationUSA center in Taiwan located at the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (www.educationusa.tw).  This center offers accurate, comprehensive, current information about educational opportunities in the United States, and provides guidance on how best to access those opportunities.
