Assistant Secretary of Commerce Suresh Kumar to Visit Taiwan

Suresh Kumar, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Promotion and Director General of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce, will visit Taipei September 13-15, 2011. He is visiting Asia to build partnerships with U.S. trade partners in the region and promote President Obama's National Export Initiative.

During his stay in Taiwan, Assistant Secretary Kumar will meet with President Ma Ying-jeou, other senior government officials, and local business leaders.

On September 14, Assistant Secretary Kumar is scheduled to deliver the key note speech at a luncheon for members of the Taiwan business community. He will also give opening remarks at the “My Dream Vacation USA – Festivals and Entertainment” event.

As Assistant Secretary and Director General, Mr. Kumar leads the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service (US&FCS). The extensive worldwide network of the US&FCS extends to 109 offices across the United States and 127 offices overseas in 77 countries. US&FCS is the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Government that supports and provides customized solutions to U.S. businesses so that they can compete and win in the global marketplace.

Prior to his joining the Obama administration in 2010, Mr. Kumar spent over thirty years as an international businessman, consultant, coach and professor of management education.
