"Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States" Exhibit Opens on July 4

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is pleased to join the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to present "Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States" exhibit at the Yat-sen Art Center of the memorial hall July 4 through 30, 2011.

The exhibit, the first of its kind, displays historical documents and artifacts that show the strong bonds between Dr. Sun, the great leader of modern China, and the United States. The U.S. National Archives, Hoover Institute, and the family of Homer Lea, a close advisor to Dr. Sun, have all provided valuable items for this exhibit.

According to AIT Director William A. Stanton, this exhibit highlights the goal of democracy and freedom that Dr. Sun shared with the founding fathers of the United States of America.

President Ma Ying-jeou will attend the opening ceremony and will deliver remarks. The exhibit will be unveiled by AIT Director William A. Stanton and Tseng Kun-ti, Director General of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, both of whom will also deliver remarks. The opening ceremony will take place on July 4 at 10 a.m.
