The American Institute in Taiwan congratulates American artist Ray King on his exhibition "Adventures in Light and Color," which will be held at the Taipei Artist Village, No.7 Beiping E. Rd. from June 19 to July 18, 2010.
Mr. King, a resident of Philadelphia, is a sculptor who uses the natural phenomenon of light as an art medium. His art reflects his interest in science, geometry, technology, and the manipulation of light and color to create light-responsive sculptures that interact with viewers and animate the surrounding environment. Mr. King's works have been commissioned and installed in public spaces throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. One of his sculptures, "Time/Space", was commissioned and installed at the Chunghwa Telecommunications Complex in Taipei in 2007. This fall, Mr. King will unveil his work "Dancing Feathers" at the forthcoming Luzhou MRT station.
Of Mr. King's work, AIT Cultural Affairs Officer and Director of the AIT American Cultural Center Director Scott Robinson remarked: "The scope and artistry of Mr. King's works are impressive. I congratulate Mr. King on this exhibition and his public art projects in Taiwan, and thank the Taipei Artist Village and all of the partners on Mr. King's public art projects for sharing his work with the people of Taiwan."
