U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee to Increase Beginning June 4, 2010

PR-1034E | Date: 5/25/2010

Effective June 4, 2010, the worldwide non-immigrant visa (NIV) application processing fee will increase and a new tiered structure with separate fees for different visa categories will be implemented. This increase is to ensure sufficient resources to cover the increasing cost of processing NIVs.  The new tiered fee structure is to cover the higher unit costs for processing certain categories of NIVs that are more complicated and require more in-depth consideration than most other categories of NIVs.

All applicants applying for an NIV on or after June 04, 2010, must pay at the following rate:

  • Applicants for B1/B2, F, J, and all other NIV categories not listed below must pay US$140.
  • Applicants for petition-based visas, including H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas,must pay US$150.
  • Applicants for K visas must pay US$350.
  • Applicants for E visas must pay US$390.

The procedure for paying visa application processing fees has not changed.  AIT visa applicants must pay the processing fee at Taiwan post offices first.  The fee must be paid in local currency according to the current exchange rate posted on our website.

Applicants who paid the application processing fee on or before June 03, 2010, and schedule their appointments on or after June 04, 2010, must pay the difference before the interview.  The difference can be paid to the designated account at Taiwan post offices. The responsibility to ensure that the correct amount is paid falls on the visa applicant.
