U.S. Pacific Northwest Wine Dinner Featuring Master Sommelier

The Agricultural Trade Office of the American Institute in Taiwan, in conjunction with the U.S. Northwest Wine Coalition, the U.S. Meat Export Federation and The A Cut Steakhouse of the Ambassador Hotel Taipei, will hold a U.S. Pacific Northwest Wine Dinner on Sunday, May 30 at the A Cut Steakhouse of the Ambassador Hotel to promote U.S. Northwest wine.  Master Sommelier Shayn Bjorholm, the ambassador of Pacific Northwest wine, will be the guest sommelier at the dinner. 

Shayn Bjorholm, one of only 170 professionals worldwide to earn the title Master Sommelier, looks forward to meeting Taiwan's consumers and introducing them to a wide variety of premium wines from Washington and Oregon and the great cuisine of the Pacific Northwest.

To improve consumers' understanding about Oregon and Washington wines, the U.S. Pacific Northwest Wine Dinner on May 30 will feature seven exquisite wines from both states, along with an enticing array of great American Northwest seafood and beef products paired by Master Sommelier Shayn Bjorholm.  Due to limited seating, reservations are required.

The United States is the fourth largest wine-producing country in the world and U.S. wine holds the second largest market share in Taiwan.  The many excellent wineries in Washington and Oregon offer a wide variety of high-quality wines that have won international accolades and are now available in Taiwan.  These include Columbia Crest Winery from Washington State, the producer of Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2009 and K Vinters Winery from Washington State, whose winemaker Charles Smith was named Food & Wine Magazine's Winemaker of the Year in 2009.  For Pinot noir wine lovers, Oregon Pinot, which has earned international recognition since the 1970s, now have the chance to taste numerous, internationally recognized brands in Taiwan including Archery Summit, Argyle, Cristom, Domaine Drouhin, Domaine Serene, Elk Cove, Firesteed, and Citation.  

The A Cut Steakhouse will launch "U.S. Pacific Northwest By-glass Wine Promotion" throughout the entire month of June for consumers to taste many of these outstanding Oregon and Washington wines.
