AIT Earth Day Writing Contest

PR-1013E | Date: 3/3/2010

The American Institute in Taiwan, in cooperation with the Global Change Research Center of the National Taiwan University, launched an English writing contest in celebration of Earth Day.  The contest is open to individuals up to and including 25-years of age who live in Taiwan and hold Taiwan passports.   All essays must be the original, individual work of the submitter.  The top two winners will be awarded cash prizes of NT$10,000 and NT$5,000, respectively.

Earth Day is on April 22.  The writing contest seeks contributions of innovative strategies to address the issue of climate change, with particular attention to areas for U.S.-Taiwan cooperation.  The essays can focus on public policy, science and technology, public-private partnerships, corporate solutions, or a combination of these and other strategies.  Entries will be judged not on the level of English, but on the quality of the content.

All entries should be double-spaced English language essays with a maximum of 1,000 words.  Contestants are advised to use Microsoft Word and include their name, organization/school affiliation, and telephone number.

Essays should be submitted by April 2, 2010 via e-mail to: earthday@mail.ait.org.tw.  Please include the words "Earth Day Writing Contest" in the subject line.

For more information on the contest, please send inquiries to earthday@mail.ait.org.tw
