USA Pavilion at Taipei International Building Show

American Institute in Taiwan's (AIT) Commercial Section and Agricultural Trade Office will cosponsor the U.S. Pavilion at the 2009 Taipei international Building, Construction, and Decoration Exhibition at Taipei's World Trade Center from December 10-13, 2009. The U.S. pavilion will consist of 14 American associations and companies occupying 20 booths and featuring both industrial and wood building products. The U.S. pavilion will feature smart living and green building products in an open, American-style living room environment. The opening ceremony for the U.S. pavilion will be at 10:45 a.m., on December 10 in Hall One of the Taipei World Trade Center.

On the industrial side of the U.S. Pavilion, Control 4 will demonstrate its wireless, smart system that can be used for audio/video, security, HVAC, and lighting applications in both residences and commercial establishments. Armstrong, Herman Miller, Andersen Doors & Windows, and GE Lighting will display their energy-saving and environment-friendly products in an integrated manner.

On the wood side of the U.S. pavilion, the American Hard Wood Export Council (AHEC) will feature a wide variety of American hardwood flooring and furniture applications. AHEC will also host an American hardwood seminar for architects and interior designers at the Hyatt Hotel on Friday, December 11. In addition, the Idaho Asia Trade Office will conduct a seminar on Idaho's Green Wood Structures and Materials at AIT Commercial Section's office. The APA-Engineered Wood Association, the Idaho Asia Trade Office, Buildtech International, Patrick Lumber Company, Osmose, Fortress Wood Products, Owens Corning Investment, and P & W will also display many sustainable "green" building products that have years of success in the U.S. market and are becoming more and more popular in Taiwan.

At the opening ceremony of the U.S. pavilion, the APA-Engineered Wood Association will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center (TABC). The MOU will help develop a closer relationship between these two organizations which are leaders in the use of green building materials. The agreement will lead to further exchanges of research information related to green building standards and engineered wood products.

Taiwan's government is encouraging the increased use of green building materials and sustainable development. The American associations and companies represented at the U.S. pavilion are willing and ready to cooperate with the Taiwan construction industry to take advantage of American technologies and green building materials in creating a cleaner, safer building environment for the future.
