On September 14, AIT Director William Stanton delivered the community greeting at the Taipei American School's groundbreaking ceremony for its facilities development project. Director Stanton said the new project "will give the Taipei American School the facilities it needs to stay at the forefront in the sciences, technology, English, the arts, and athletics -- enabling the Taipei American School to keep developing the well-rounded individuals that are the hallmark of the best that American education can offer." Director Stanton also expressed pride in the "special and mutually supportive relationship the Taipei American School and the American Institute in Taiwan have forged over the last 31 years, which is rooted in a foundation that reaches back yet another thirty years. Over these decades, U.S. representatives and the Taipei American School community have worked hand-in-hand in pursuit of a common goal: the best possible education -- in all its dimensions -- for our children." The new buildings at TAS are projected to be occupied in January 2012.
