AIT Director William Stanton welcomed the 2010-2011 U.S. Fulbright grantees to Taiwan during a reception on September 10 organized by the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange, Taiwan's Fulbright office. In his remarks at the event, Director Stanton noted the importance to the U.S.-Taiwan relationship of Taiwan's Fulbright Program, which has supported the exchange of over 2,500 scholars and is one of the world's longest-running Fulbright Programs. This year Taiwan will host 50 U.S. Fulbright grantees, 27 of whom will serve as English Teaching Assistants at public elementary and junior high schools in Yilan and Kaohsiung. From 2010 to 2011, 52 grantees from Taiwan will pursue Ph.D. degrees, conduct research and teach at institutions in the United States.
