The American Institute in Taiwan Commercial Section will organize a USA Pavilion at the 1999 Taipei International Medical Equipment and Pharmaceuticals Show, the largest medical trade exhibition in Taiwan. The event will take place from November 11-14 at the Taipei World Trade Center. The USA Pavilion will highlight 54 U.S. firms and their local representatives, who will display their products and literature to leaders of the Taiwan medical industry.

The show is held in conjunction with a three-day symposium organized by the Formosa Medical Association, the largest professional association of its kind in Taiwan. Last year's show attracted 369 overseas buyers and over 23,000 local visitors from the healthcare industry, resulting in hundreds of sales leads for U.S. firms. The local visitors included nearly all of Taiwan's top medical professionals and hospital decision-makers.

This year, several new exhibitors have joined the USA Pavilion, which has grown from 24 booths in 1998 to 37 booths this year. The U.S. states of Indiana, Florida, and Maine are also organizing literature booths in the USA Pavilion to feature new-to-market companies from these three states with strong healthcare industries.
