PR9928E | Date: 1999-05-27
Timothy Miles of the U.S. Department of Commerce will demonstrate a Y2K management software tool in the USA Pavilion at Computex '99, which is scheduled for June 1-5.
The CD-ROM, offered compliments of the U.S. Department of Commerce to small and medium-sized business and organizations, includes a self-assessment tool developed by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). The CD-ROM has been translated into Mandarin Chinese, as well as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Japanese to reach the widest possible audience.
"This Y2K self-help tool has been used successfully by over 3,500 small-to medium-sized organizations in the United States," according to Miles. "The tool kit is not just about compliance. It is about risk management, or mitigating the chances of financial loss or serious disruption due to Y2K-related problems."
Miles' visit is being hosted by the American Institute in Taiwan Commercial Section, in conjunction with the USA Pavilion at Computex '99. Miles will be giving demonstrations throughout Computex '99 at the USA Pavilion Lounge. The CD-ROM will be distributed free of charge to visitors to the USA Pavilion, as part of the Y2K outreach program of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
