The 1999 International Supermarket Convention and Educational Exposition will be held May 2-4, 1999 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, USA. For the seventh consecutive year, the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) have co-sponsored this Supermarket Industry Convention and Educational Exposition.
The International Supermarket Convention and Exposition brings together everything for international buyers-from famous international brands to the most popular regional specialties in the United States.
Products to be displayed at the American Pavilion include: beverage, non-food consumer items, baked food, health food, candy products, diary products, meat products and by-products, poultry meats, fresh and dried fruits, seafood, snacks, pet food, frozen food, and other ethnic foods.
The supermarket industry is moving into a new global market. At the FMI Exposition, showcasing "U.S. food products," buyers will find new products, new manufacturers, and new ideas, which will be helpful when facing new business challenges.
The highest quality and most up-to-date products the supermarket industry has to offer will be shown at the exposition.
It will feature:
-- More than 1,400 exhibitors representing food & beverage, non-food consumer items, equipment, technology, service industries and more.
-- A specialty product pavilion which will present fresh fruits, personal trademark products, and ideas for storage/distribution/marketing.
-- More than 30 seminars led by world-renowned experts in the food industry that will address important questions. The subjects include: consumer trends, new technology, safety, wholesale distribution and logistics, store design and development, and more. Simultaneous Chinese translation will be provided at these workshops.
The American Pavilion at the 1999 FMI/NASDA convention and exposition is sponsored by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Through its offices in U.S. Embassies and Agricultural Trade Offices around the world, FAS organizes international buyer delegations to attend the show. FAS trade consultants will provide special technical assistance to foreign trade delegations and individuals at the convention and exposition.
The 1999 event is expected to attract delegations from Canada, Central Europe, Southern Europe, Asia, the Pacific basin, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
