U.S. House of Representatives Government Reform and Oversight Committee Staff Delegation in Taiwan

A Congressional staff delegation of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives is currently visiting Taiwan. They have come here to gather information with respect to alleged campaign finance irregularities in the United States. The focus of this fact-finding mission is on American citizens.
This group has no authority or interest in issuing subpoenas or conducting official hearings and has no intention of violating Taiwan's judicial rights and privileges. Discussions which they have with individuals on Taiwan will be strictly voluntary. Such discussions will be exchanges of opinions on issues of mutual concern arising out of the interest shared by the United States and Taiwan in combating illegal activities.
The United States appreciates the cooperation of the Taiwan authorities in helping to advance our shared interest in promoting the rule of law.
