American Cultural Center to Sponsor Second Lecture on American Music and Culture

The American Cultural Center announces a second program on American music and culture, co-sponsored with the Chinese (Taipei) Association of Music Education and the Chinese (Taipei) Association of Ethnomusicology, The speaker for this program is Lloyd W. Neighbors, Chief of AIT Cultural and Information Section. He will speak on "American Music and American Culture: A Brief History of American Folk Music." The lecture will be held on September 25, 1997, Thursday, between 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Music Performance Hall of Department of Music Education, National Taiwan Normal University. Mr. Neighbors graduated from Indiana University, majoring in Chinese Language and Literature. He has served with the U.S. Information Agency in Taiwan, Croatia, Brazil, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. He returned to Taiwan in January 1997 to become Chief of the Cultural and Information Section of the American Institute in Taiwan.

The lecture is free of charge and open to the public. Faculty members and students in local academic communities in the fields of music, arts and literature, history, cultural studies, English teaching, and American studies are especially welcome to attend.
