U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's Meeting with Taiwan's APEC Representative Dr. James Soong

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with the Taiwan’s representative Dr. James Soong at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting in Lima, Peru on November 17. Secretary Kerry expressed deep respect for Taiwan’s economic and democratic achievements and conveyed our abiding interest in maintaining cross-Strait peace and stability.

Secretary Kerry also reaffirmed that the United States remains committed to its one China policy based on the three joint communiques and the Taiwan Relations Act, and that this policy has strong bi-partisan support within the United States.
