AIT to Launch "USA Weeks" at Far Eastern Department Stores

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), together with our event partner Far Eastern Department Stores, Ltd., is pleased to announce the launch of “USA Weeks.” This event is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 10, 2016. “USA Weeks” will be held at Taipei Banqiao Mega City, Taichung Top City as well as Far Eastern department store branches in Kaohsiung, while the “American Food Festival” will be held at six CitySuper stores throughout Taiwan.

“USA Weeks” will feature products related to the U.S. lifestyle, its culture, travel, food, drinks, and consumer goods. More than 100 brands of U.S. housewares, casual apparel, fashion accessories, sporting goods, electronics, toys, books, and personal care products will be showcased. In addition, more than 100 high quality U.S. agricultural products never seen before in Taiwan will be displayed.

Special activities include:

• The 2016 Barbie fashion show presented by Banqiao Mega City, which has been running for over 50 years. The dolls featured this year are part of the “Dream Princess Collection” and the “Hollywood Collection” along with dolls in the “50-Year Anniversary Collection”.

• The unveiling of Hot Wheel’s Epic Truck, a product introduced exclusively by Banqiao Megacity to Taiwan for the first time.

• The 2016 American Beef Bowl festival on July 2 and July 3 hosted by Banqiao Megacity and the U.S. Meat Export Federation will provide visitors with an authentic taste of American beef.

• The Brand USA Information Center is located in the Brand USA booths which can be found at Banqiao Mega City and the Far Eastern Department Store’s Taichung and Kaohsiung branches. The Centers will provide materials and information on U.S. travel and tourism.

• Story telling activities: U.S. publishers, Scholastic and National Geographic will hold a total of six children’s storytelling sessions to share the joy of reading.

• Delta Airlines will be giving away four round-trip airline tickets from Taiwan to the United States.

• On June 30, 2016 at 2:30 p.m., Main Square, the ground floor of Taipei Banqiao Mega City.
