U.S. National Weather Service Director to Visit Taiwan March 20-23, 2014

Dr. Louis W. Uccellini, Director of the National Weather Service and Assistant Administrator in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will visit Taiwan from March 20-23 to deliver the keynote speech at the 2014 annual meeting of the Meteorological Society of Taiwan. An international expert on meteorology, Dr. Uccellini will deliver an address titled “Taking Weather Forecasts to the Next Level: Linking Forecasts to Impact Based Decision Support Services.”

Dr. Uccellini will also have meetings with the leaders of Academia Sinica, the National Applied Research Laboratories, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the Environmental Protection Administration. Dr. Uccellini's visit will provide an important opportunity for discussions on scientific and environmental cooperation between the United States and Taiwan and will contribute to our joint efforts to address global climate change.
