AIT Announces Visit of Atul Keshap to Taiwan September 23-25

Mr. Atul Keshap, the U.S. APEC Senior Official and Coordinator for Economic Policy in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, will visit Taiwan from September 23-25.
During her September 9 meeting with Taiwan’s representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, Lien Chan, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated that she would soon dispatch Mr. Keshap to Taiwan to "consult on further broadening the U.S. economic relationship with Taiwan."
During his stay in Taiwan, Mr. Keshap will have a series of meetings, including with government officials. He will also deliver an economic policy speech.
Atul Keshap is a career United States Senior Foreign Service Officer. He coordinates U.S. economic and trade diplomacy toward 21 APEC member economies that generate 44 percent of global trade and $34 trillion of GDP. Previous assignments have included Director of the Office of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Bhutan Affairs in the State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Director of the Office of Human Rights, Humanitarian, and Social Affairs in the Bureau of International Organizations of the State Department and Deputy Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India.
