AIT Collaborates with Taiwan Supermarkets to Promote U.S. Food and Agricultural Products
PR-1234E | Date: 07/10/2012
The Agricultural Trade Office of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) invites consumers all over Taiwan to partake in its MeishiABC (American Born Cuisine) promotion at approximately 350 supermarkets across the island. Wellcome Supermarket and Jasons Market Place will each run promotions from June 29 to July 26, and Taiwan Fresh Supermarket in Taichung will run its promotion from July 6 to August 2.
To familiarize Taiwan consumers with fresh, quality U.S. food products, U.S. agricultural cooperators are organizing in-store cooking demonstrations and on-site sample tastings of U.S. fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food products. In particular, AIT hopes to introduce more Taiwan consumers to U.S. blueberries, California cherries, and Northwest cherries. Since these fruits are in-season in the summertime, Taiwanese consumers can enjoy these U.S. fruits at their freshest. Other featured items include U.S. potatoes, cheeses, California table grapes and wine, as well as pet foods.
To encourage customers to try these products, the California Agricultural Export Council and the California Travel and Tourism Commission will offer a special vacation giveaway to two lucky winners. Purchasers of any U.S. food product will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a travel package to California. Each winner will receive two free round-trip tickets to California, along with a free one-week stay at a luxury hotel and one week of rental-car service. Other prize packages will be given to purchasers as well. For a detailed description of prizes and qualifying products, please visit www.americanborncuisine.com
Taiwan is the sixth largest export market for U.S. food and agricultural products and ranks number 2, behind only Canada in terms of per-capita consumption of U.S. food products.
