John Hartman Takes Position as Deputy Branch Chief of AIT's Kaohsiung Branch Office

John Hartman began his tenure as the Deputy Branch Chief and Economic and Consular Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan's (AIT's) Kaohsiung Branch Office in July 2011.

Previously, he served at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, South Korea and at the U.S. Consulate in Hermosillo, Mexico. Before joining the State Department in 2004, Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years and worked for General Electric (GE) Company for 2 years.

Mr. Hartman holds a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He speaks Spanish and Mandarin. He is married to Heidi Lynn Swanson Hartman and has two children, Hannah and Alex.
