U.S. Senior Official for APEC Visits Taiwan

The U.S. Senior Official for APEC, Ambassador Kurt Tong, on July 5 paid a brief visit to Taiwan to discuss APEC matters, as well as issues related to U.S.-Taiwan economic relations, with senior Taiwan Officials.

The United States is serving as host and chair of APEC in 2011. Tong introduced a variety of issues relating to APEC, including upcoming high-level meetings to be held in San Francisco in September on energy and transportation issues, women and the economy, innovation and trade in technology, and health issues.

The APEC Leaders Meeting will take place in Honolulu in November. More information on APEC 2011 is available at www.apec2011.gov.
