In observance of World AIDS Day, the American Institute in Taiwan is pleased to join the Taiwan AIDS Foundation and other organizations in hosting "Light for Rights," an event that will honor those who have lost their lives to AIDS, underscore the continuing need to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, and comfort those infected and their loved ones.
Light for Rights will be held on Wednesday, December 1 from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Chanti Square, 9 Songshou Road, Xinyi District, Taipei. Over 100 cities worldwide will host Light for Rights events to mark World AIDS Day. For more information about the Light for Rights campaign, please visit: http://lightforrights.org/.
The United States is proud to support the international effort to combat HIV/AIDS. Launched in 2003 to combat global AIDS, the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) is the largest commitment in history by any nation to combat a single disease. With support from PEPFAR and other programs, the global community has made groundbreaking progress in saving lives through HIV prevention, treatment and care services.
