USA Pavilion of 2010 Food Taipei Invites in Top Culinary Talents to Demonstrate Great American Food

The Agricultural Trade Office of the American Institute in Taiwan welcomes Taiwan agriculture and food service buyers to visit the USA Pavilion at the 2010 Taipei International Food Show from June 23 to 26 at the World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall (Address: L0826, No.1, Jingmao 2nd Rd., Nangang District, Taipei City).

The USA Pavilion is the largest international pavilion at the 2010 Food Taipei. The USA Pavilion consists of sixty-three booths occupied by more than 22 exhibitors to showcase a wide variety of high-quality American agricultural products to Taiwan industry buyers, including meat, seafood, dairy, baking ingredients, beverages, condiments, etc.

At 12:30 p.m. on June 23, the Director of the American Institute in Taiwan, William A. Stanton, will demonstrate his cooking abilities for the first time in Taiwan. Director Stanton will present a hearty USDA prime T-Bone steak to the media, along with the support from celebrity chefs at the American Kitchen of the USA Pavilion. The American Kitchen is located at L0826.

This year the Wisconsin Ginseng Board, the Southern United States Trade Association, the Western U.S. Agricultural Trade Association, and the Food Export Association of the Midwest USA will lead delegations to exhibit their new products and meet potential buyers at the USA Pavilion of the Taipei International Food Show.

In addition, the USA Pavilion has broken new gourmet ground by inviting in a stream of top culinary talents to demonstrate American food ingredients and latest cooking styles at the state-of-the-art American Kitchen. The chef demonstrations at the American Kitchen will kick off at 10 a.m. on June 23 and continue throughout the show until 4 p.m. on June 26. These culinary talents will not only feature American ingredients but also demonstrate new applications and creative recipes. The demonstrations will include the latest soybean applications as egg replacers in baking, the western USA berries' and nuts' functions as texture enhancers in pastries, the Wisconsin ginseng applications in traditional Chinese desserts, the southern USA hot sauces' versatile applications and different meat cut preparations in western-style cuisines, etc. Industry buyers are welcome to watch the demonstrations and explore new business opportunities from these new products.

Taiwan is the sixth largest export market for U.S. agricultural products. In 2009, the USA exported about USD2.9 billion of agricultural food products to Taiwan. In the first quarter of 2010, U.S. agricultural product exports to Taiwan grew by 33% compared to the same period last year. The most fastest-growing categories are consumer-oriented products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, red meat, snacks, tree nuts, etc. This reflects the Taiwan consumers' demand for value-added products and such demand is expected to grow in the following years. The exhibitors of the USA Pavilion at the Taipei International Food Show will offer a full-range of these value-added products for potential buyers.
