AIT, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Hold America Weeks Retail Promotion for Independence Day Celebrations

To celebrate U.S. Independence Day, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Commercial Section and Agricultural Trade Office will hold America Weeks  retail events at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Stores in Taipei's Xinyi District from June 26 to July 12, in Taichung from July 1 to July 13, and in Kaohsiung from July 3 to July 15.

America Weeks will be unveiled with an exciting opening ceremony at the Xinyi Store on June 26.  All the participants will gather to sing the Happy Birthday song to the United States of America before cutting a super-size USA birthday cake.

In addition to offering special discounts on a variety of American products, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Stores around the island will also host numerous fun activities during America Weeks.  The Xinyi Store, with a "Fun USA" theme, will include 150 U.S. brands to provide all kinds of American-style fun.  Kiehl's will gather 50 Harley-Davidson motorcycles for a parade on June 27.  DC Shoes will invite world-renowned skateboarding master P.J. Ladd to give his first Asia Tour performance on July 1.  The U.S. Dairy Export Council will host a Broadway musical show while sponsoring a cheese tasting on July 4.  On the same day, Cotton USA's current and former spokespersons will perform at its annual concert on July 4.

The Cultural Hall at "Xinyi A11" will feature several world-famous American brands.  For instance, Lee will present its 120 years of history in a Lee Jeans Museum, and Sesame Street will celebrate its 40th anniversary.  Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nike will offer many limited-edition products.  Disney will present several story-telling sessions with its popular children's books.  The Culture Hall will also feature a U.S. Route 66 theme to demonstrate the heart of the American spirit - the pursuit of freedom and independence.  Visitors will be able to learn about the history as well as the scenic spots and legends along Route 66.  Moreover, shoppers will have a chance to win two round-trip air tickets to San Francisco provided by United Airlines, as well as other prizes.
