2009-06-17 | 2009 Taipei Film Festival to Feature six U.S. Documentaries

The American Institute in Taiwan offers its congratulations to the 2009 Taipei Film Festival, with special thanks to the organizers for the inclusion of six U.S. documentary films.  They include four documentary films by the Oscar-winning U.S. director Rob Epstein: The Times of Harvey Milk (1984), the winner of the 1985 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature; Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt (1989), the winner of the 1990 Academy Award for Best Feature Documentary; The Celluloid Closet (1995) and Paragraph 175 (2000).   The festival also includes the popular documentaries The Yes Men (2003) and The Yes Men Fix the World (2009). 

The festival will be held at Taipei Zhongshan Hall, Taipei Shin Kong Cineplex, The Red House, and Taipei Cinema Park Ximen Ting from June 26 to July 12, 2009.

The Taipei film festival was inaugurated in 1998 and is chaired by renowned director Hou Hsiao-Hsien.
