AIT Commercial Section Promotes Travel to Alaska
The Commercial Section of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taiwan Office of State of Alaska will hold a joint press conference on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. to promote travel to Alaska.
During the press conference, Alaska Trade Representative Erick Kish and speakers from Japan Airlines and Alaska cruise operators will announce new tours from Taiwan to Fairbanks, Alaska and 2009 itineraries for cruises to Alaska. Details of the press conference are as follows:

Japan Airlines (JAL) Announces Aurora Viewing Tours to Fairbanks, Alaska
Japan Airlines (JAL) is offering charter service to Fairbanks, Alaska (FAI) with Aurora Borealis tours sold by the JAL Alaska Holiday PAK consortium of Taiwan tour operators. These aurora tours fly JAL scheduled service from Taipei to Narita and JAL charter service to Fairbanks. There are 5 tours offered this winter season with departures from Taipei on 12/31, 1/20, 2/1, 2/5, and 2/26. Tours spend several nights in Fairbanks with a focus on aurora viewing at night and fun activities in the day including hot springs, ice art viewing, dog sled riding, horse sleigh riding, snowmobile riding, and other fun winter activities. Fairbanks is known as the "Aurora Capital of the World" because it is the best and most accessible location to view the Aurora Borealis with the aurora visible 243 nights each year.
Alaska a Top Cruise Destination for Taiwan Travelers
Alaska cruises and cruise tours continue to be a top cruise destinations for Taiwan travelers on major cruise lines such as Holland America Line, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and other cruise companies. Major cruise lines offer Alaska cruise tours from mid-May to mid-September.
Holland America Line
In 2009, the Holland America Line will have 8 major cruise ships serving Alaska with a capacity of 10,000 passengers. In 2007, Holland America Tours bought three new deluxe motor coaches and upgraded its 36 existing vehicles to create a new deluxe motor coach fleet. Holland America Tours owns major tourism operations in Alaska to include Westmark Hotels, Gray Line ground transportation company, and deluxe domed rail cars on the Alaska Railroad. Holland America Line offers cruise and CruiseTour packages ranging from adventure shore excursions to full itinerary land tours of Alaska. Most CruiseTour itineraries combine a land tour and a luxury cruise.

In 2009, Princess Cruises will have 8 major cruise ships serving Alaska. Princess Cruises owns major tourism operations in Alaska to include hotels, transportation, and attractions.
