U.S. Political Speaker to Give Presentations in Taiwan

From October 6-9, the American Institute in Taiwan is sponsoring the visit of David Plotke, professor of political science at the New School, a university in New York City.  Dr. Plotke will give lectures and foster discussion in Taiwan on topics related to the 2008 U.S. presidential election, including such themes as democracy and the U.S. electoral process, voters and public opinion, the U.S. presidential candidates and U.S. foreign policy in the 2008 election and beyond.

Dr. Plotke's research areas include U.S. Politics; American political development; national political institutions, political and social movements; American political thought; political theory and sources of democratic continuity; democratic politics and anti-democratic politics.

Dr. Plotke will speak at various universities in Taipei and Kaohsiung, giving talks to students as well as briefings for elite Taiwan scholars.  These programs are free of charge and open to the public.
