Blues Society of Taiwan Presents "Blues Bash 4" November 17-18, 2007
The Blues Society on Taiwan (BSoT), a non-profit cultural society founded in 2004, will present Blues Bash 4 on November 17-18, 2007, at the Dream Community in Shihjih. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
The international music festival "Blues Bash 4" features a roster of 16 international and locally-based Blues artists. The international performers include boogie-woogie piano maestro, Mitch Woods; 2007 International Blues Challenge winners, Nathan James and Ben Hernandez; electrifying Blues guitar ace, Shun Kikuta; Ken 'the Snowman' Minahan, winner of the prestigious International Blues Challenge and the BB King 'Lucille' Award; Hong Kong slide guitarist, Tommy Chung; Japanese acoustic duo Fumi Wataribe & Naoto and more.
"The blues tells a story. Every line of the line of the blues has meaning" - so said famous bluesman John Lee Hooker about this uniquely American form of music. "Blue" is an expression for sadness, and the lyrics of blues songs deal with the downtrodden. From its U.S. origins, blues has spread all over the world and inspired or influenced a variety of musical genres, including jazz, R&B (which stands for rhythm and blues), bluegrass, gospel and rock and roll.
AIT congratulates the Blues Society on organizing this event which brings great blues musicians from Taiwan, America and elsewhere together to share this from-the-heart art form with Taiwan music fans.
