Press Release
Taste of America: AIT Brings the Flavors of the Pacific Northwest to Taiwan
PR0758E | Date: 2007-10-12
AIT's Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) and the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA), along with several co-sponsors, are pleased to announce a series of events by which we hope to bring flavors of the U.S. Pacific Northwest to Taiwan.
The events feature celebrity chef Rod Jessick of Idaho, who brings over 30 years of experience and a unique style of cooking emphasizing fresh, healthy ingredients from the U.S. Pacific Northwest. This series of events represents one of the largest U.S. food promotion activities ever held in Taiwan, which is the sixth largest market for U.S. agricultural exports.
A wide variety of activities are planned during the months of October and November, including chef training seminars, wine tasting events, a chef competition, menu promotions in 21 restaurants in Taipei and Taichung, and a drawing in mid-November for several prizes, including a Northwest Airlines round-trip ticket to the United States, a baseball autographed by Wang Chien-Ming, hotel vacation packages, and gift certificates for participating restaurants.
For more information about American agricultural products, please visit the ATO Taipei website at www.usfoodtaiwan.org.
Attached is a schedule of events. Representatives of the media who are interested in covering one or more of these events should please contact the venues at which the events will be held. To interview Chef Rod Jessick, please contact Shirley Lai with AIT's Public Affairs Section Tel: (02) 2162-2037; E-mail: slai@mail.ait.org.tw, or Amy Hsueh with AIT's Agricultural Trade Office Tel: (02) 2705-6536 ext. 248, E-mail: amy.hsueh@usda.gov.
