AIT Presents Books to National Chengchi University

PR0717E | Date: 2007-04-10

The American Institute in Taiwan presented American Studies books to the National Chengchi University Library on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, as AIT continued its cooperation in building the American Study Core Collection at the NCCU Library.

Thomas Hodges, Chief of AIT's Public Affairs Section, presented the American Studies books to the NCCU Library in a ceremony.  "The collection is one of the most comprehensive American Study collections in Taiwan," said Hodges.  The collection has not only benefited NCCU's faculty and students but also faculty, students and scholars at all universities in Taiwan via inter-library loan.

Including the 180 American Studies books presented on April 10, AIT has donated more than 600 titles to the American core Collection at the NCCU Library in fields such as American history, literature, government, sociology, and economics.

The collection, which began as a proposal in 2002 to promote a more thorough understanding of the United States, was made possible through the joint efforts of AIT and NCCU.  AIT was able to get the support of the Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs of the U.S. Department of State in the form of funding and guidance, and NCCU provided the facilities for the inter-library loan.
