AIT Offices to Close January 2 in Honor of Former President Gerald R. Ford

All offices of the American Institute in Taiwan will be closed Tuesday, January 2, 2007, to honor the memory of former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford.  This includes the Consular Section, the American Trade Center, the American Cultural Center and the AIT Kaohsiung branch office.  AIT will re-open at the usual time on Wednesday, January 3, 2007.

President George W. Bush issued an Executive Order December 28 directing the closure of all executive departments, independent establishments, and other governmental agencies on January 2, 2007, as a mark of respect for Gerald R. Ford, the thirty-eighth President of the United States.  Gerald R. Ford passed away December 26, 2006.

Rescheduling Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Appointments

We encourage individuals who had nonimmigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for January 2 to reschedule their appointments by visiting the Application Processing Center's web site at http://www.visaagent.com.tw

If you had an interview appointment scheduled for January 2 and have urgent travel needs, you may also come to AIT during our regular business hours between January 3 and January 5.  However, you should expect some delays in processing cases.
