AIT's New Press Officer Lawrence A. Walker

Mr. Lawrence A. Walker recently arrived in Taiwan to take up the position of Press Officer for American Institute in Taiwan.

Mr. Walker most recently served as Senior Economic Officer at the United States Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria.  He has previously worked at U.S. embassies and consulates in Mexico, Germany and mainland China and in the State Department's Office of Korean Affairs.  He has also worked as Managing Director of the German-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco; as Director of Business Development at the Silicon Valley operations of 2M Invest, a Denmark-based venture capital firm; as a consultant in international business development; and as an editor and translator.

Mr. Walker, a native of California, graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University with a degree in Languages and Linguistics.  He also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois and a Master's in Administration and Management from the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, which he attended as a Rotary Scholar.  

He speaks Mandarin Chinese, German, French, Spanish and several other languages.
