American Corner Camp At National Taichung Library

The American Institute in Taiwan and the Taichung American Corner invite Taiwan youth (ages eight to twelve) to participate in the "International Youth Day:  American Corner Summer Camp."   This event will be held at the Taichung American Corner on Friday, August 11, 2006.   The one-day program aims to increase awareness of American society, culture and values.  It will include events focused on U.S. sports including soccer, American art design as well as story-telling.  This activity will be cosponsored by Nike Inc. and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government.

The American Corner is an information resource center and meeting place.  Its collection of U.S.-related materials includes 1,700 books and video tapes.  It conducts a variety of cultural programs on American literature and American studies, and includes story-telling and digital video conferences.  The American Corner is also a free wireless hotspot.
