Tracy Thiele Assumes Duties as New Chief of AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office

Tracy Thiele took up her duties as the Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Kaohsiung Branch Office August 8, 2005.

Ms. Thiele joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1990; she first served with the United States Information Agency (1990-1999), and then became an employee of the U.S. Department of State in 2000.  Prior to joining AIT, she spent a year as a National Security Affairs Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.

While overseas with the United States Information Agency, she served as the Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam (1998-2000); as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore (1993-97); and as the Branch Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China (1991-93).  Ms. Thiele's domestic assignments for the State Department have included positions in Washington on the Board of Examiners (2002-2003) and in the Office of Public Diplomacy, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (2000-2002). 

Ms. Thiele is the recipient of a Department of State Superior Honor Award and of two Meritorious Honor Awards from the United States Information Agency.

Ms. Thiele graduated from Chatham College with a dual major in history and political science.
