American Institute in Taiwan Invites the Public to Speech and Video Programs on Contemporary American Ceramic Arts at the Taichung American Corner
The AIT Public Affairs Section, as a co-sponsor of the exhibit "Diverse Domain - Contemporary North American Art" at the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, is promoting the exhibit and hoping to further the Taichung public's understanding of American ceramic arts by presenting a series of video programs on contemporary ceramic artists and academic experts at the Taichung American Corner from July 30 to August 20.
Kuo Yih-wen, professor of art at Northern Illinois University, will deliver a speech entitled "The Survey of American Contemporary Ceramics in the 20th Century" from 14:30 to 16:30 July 30 in support of the video program.
The videos on Contemporary American ceramic arts (with Chinese subtitles) will be:

-- "Life as a Ceramist," 11: 00 to 12: 00, August 6, featuring Val Cushing, studio artist and professor emeritus, NYSCC at Alfred University
-- "Coil Building Flower Bud," 11: 00 to 12: 00, August 13, featuring Eva Kwong, studio artist and adjunct faculty, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio
-- "Slab Building Animal in Tree Trunk Form," 11: 00 to 12: 00, August 20, featuring Jeff Irwin, professor, Grossmont College, El Cajon, California
The Taichung American Corner is located at National Taichung Library Reference Room, 1F, No. 291-3, Ching-wu Road, Taichung. All the programs are open to the public free of charge. Pre-registration is suggested to ensure a seat.
