Delegation of Taiwan Computing and Networking Business Leaders to Visit United States, Trip Arranged by American Institute in Taiwan Commercial Section

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) is pleased to announce that Taiwan Minister Without Portfolio Lin Ferng-Ching will lead a delegation of local computing and networking business leaders to the United States April 27 - May 8.  The mission is being organized by the Commercial Section of AIT to familiarize qualified Taiwan firms with U.S. technology and expertise; seek suitable products or technologies to distribute or represent in Taiwan; help participants better understand new IT technology trends and applications; and facilitate strategic alliances, business partnerships and joint venture activities in Taiwan.

The delegation represents a cross-section of Taiwan's technology sector, including prominent decision-makers from public organizations, quasi-governmental organizations and private-sector technology firms.  Private sector participants are being drawn from industry leaders in the areas of software and information services/solutions, telecom services, systems integration, network services, E-Business, and IT manufacturing.

Taiwan is a leading producer of an impressive array of information technology products, and many of Taiwan's key IT players are shifting resources to "ubiquitous" computing applications and services and are seeking relevant U.S. suppliers and technology partners.  The delegation will visit U.S. high-tech firms leading the development of "IT Everywhere" technology and related applications (e.g., Microsoft, Intel, Yahoo, EDS, Cisco, Texas Instruments); small and medium high-tech firms; as well as leading academic R&D institutions and professional associations active in the IT arena.  The delegation is scheduled to depart Taiwan April 27 for San Jose, California.  After visiting Silicon Valley, the delegation will visit Dallas, and then Washington, DC, before returning to Taipei.

The National Information and Communication Initiative Committee of the Executive Yuan, the Information Service Industry Association, and the Institute for Information Industry Market Intelligence Center are all supporting this mission.
