Taiwan Announces Lifting of Import Ban on U.S. Beef
The American Institute in Taiwan warmly welcomes the announcement by Taiwan's Department of Health to allow imports of U.S. boneless beef from cattle under thirty months of age starting April 16.
This action is the result of a long and detailed assessment by the Department of Health of safeguard measures established by the U.S. government to prevent the introduction and spread of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
The United States is currently studying the details of the announcement; we look forward to cooperating with Taiwan authorities in implementing this decision.
