Representative Tom Lantos to Visit Taiwan Jan. 15-18
Representative Tom Lantos (D-California) will visit Taiwan January 15-18 as part of a trip to Asia during which he also traveled to China, North Korea, and Hong Kong.
During his visit, Representative Lantos will receive a decoration from President Chen Shui-bian in recognition for his leadership on human rights issues. He will also meet with Foreign Minister Mark Chen and Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng.
Lantos has served as a member of the United States Congress since January 3, 1981. He is the senior Democratic member of the House of Representatives' International Relations Committee. He is also the co-chairman and founder of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus.
