Charles Bennett Assumes Duties as New AIT Consular Section Chief

Charles Bennett assumed his duties as the chief of AIT's Consular Section June 21, 2004.

Mr. Bennett joined the Foreign Service in 1987 and has served overseas at the U.S. embassies in Beijing (1998-2003), Bangkok (1996-1998), and Manila (1987-1989). He has served at AIT Taipei once before (1992-1996). In addition, Mr. Bennett served from 1989 to 1992 in the U.S. Department of State as a desk officer in the Office of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay Affairs. Mr. Bennett is the recipient of two Department of State Superior Honor Awards, and two Meritorious Honor Awards.

Mr. Bennett is a native of Seattle, Washington. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, and received a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington in 1985. Mr. Bennett is married and has a sixteen-year-old daughter.
