American Institute in Taiwan Will Be Closed June 11, 2004 as a Mark of Respect for Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan
The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) will be closed Friday, June 11, 2004, to honor the memory of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. This includes the Consular Section, the American Trade Center, the American Cultural Center and the AIT Kaohsiung branch office. AIT will re-open again for business at 8:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2004.
U.S. President George W. Bush issued an Executive Order June 6, 2004, directing the closure of all executive departments, independent establishments, and other governmental agencies of the United State that day as a mark of respect for Ronald Reagan, the fortieth President of the United States. Ronald Reagan passed away June 5, 2004.
Only those U.S. government establishments which are deemed essential to U.S. national security, defense or other essential public business will be open Friday.

For those applicants whose appointments were originally scheduled for June 11 between 9 AM to 10 AM: Please appear for your interview at AIT on Tuesday, June 15, at 10 AM.
For those applicants whose appointments were originally scheduled for June 11 between 10 AM to 11 AM: Please appear for your interview at AIT on Wednesday, June 16, at 10 AM.
For those applicants whose appointments were originally scheduled for June 11 between 1 PM to 2 PM: Please appear for your interview at AIT on Thursday, June 17, at 10 AM.
For those applicants whose appointments were originally scheduled for June 11 between 2 PM to 2:30 PM: Please appear for your interview at AIT on Friday, June 18, at 10 AM.
Those who have emergency travel needs may appear any workday between 8 AM and 2:30 PM.
