New American Cultural Center Director R. Andrew Dickson III

R. Andrew Dickson III takes up his duties as Cultural Officer of the Public Affairs Section of AIT and the director of the American Cultural Center in July 2003. He arrived in Taiwan August of 2002, and has spent the last year studying Mandarin Chinese at the AIT Chinese Language School in Taipei.
A native of Berkeley Heights New Jersey, Mr. Dickson joined the Foreign Service in June of 1999. His first assignment was to the United States Embassy in Damascus, where he served as an Economic and Consular officer from June 2000 to June 2002. Mr. Dickson also speaks Arabic.
Mr. Dickson graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1998 after earning a BA with highest honors in the field of International Relations. He spent his junior year studying abroad in Beijing, where he also served as an intern in CNN's Beijing Bureau. His interests include traveling, music, sports, and reading.
