"After September 11: Images from Ground Zero" Photo Exhibition Goes to Tainan August 2 to September 1, 2002

After a successful debut in the American Cultural Center (ACC) in Taipei, the "After September 11: Images from Ground Zero," photo exhibition is now going south. It will be shown in the Tainan Municipal Cultural Center from August 2 to September 1, Wednesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ACC Director Robert C. Howes will preside over the opening ceremony in Tainan on August 2.

This exhibit features 27 photographs by New York photographer Joel Meyerowitz. They were chosen from among 5,000 that Meyerowitz, winner of a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship, took as the only photographer allowed to have unimpeded access to Ground Zero just two days after the September 11 attacks on the New York World Trade Center. The photos offer a stunning reflection of the September 11th attacks on the U.S. and the reaction of the American people in human terms and can be appreciated from an artistic, photojournalism or global issue perspective.

Taiwan is a part of a three-year worldwide tour of this exhibition. To date more than 70 cities have seen it. In addition to Tainan, the show is also scheduled to be on display in Chungli, Hsinchu, Taichung, Kaohsiung and other places.
